8 Stages of Product Development
This page will give you an idea of what goes into electronic product development

Your Idea

It all starts with an idea. Many people have ideas but few of them work to implement theirs. At givengineering we have experience in taking products all the way from idea to production.

Patenting

Once you have an idea, if you want to profit from it you have to protect your idea. This is done by patenting it. This gives you the legal status as owner of the idea and gives you the sole right to produce the product.

Part Selection

Part selection is a critical part of the development process. You want to be able to compete with competitors in terms of price, quality and features. Have knowledgeable engineers experienced with the critical components of your product is essential.

Schematic and Board Layout

Once the parts are selected they need to be connected correctly. This is done using a schematic editor. At givengineering we use the Eagle PCB layout and schematic editor to create the schematic and layout the board.

Assemble Board

We contract the assembly of your product to state of the art facilities to insure the highest quality product possible. Products are tested after assembly and prior to shipping

Programming

The code that runs in embedded products is called fimware. This is the program that controls the behavior of the part. Microprocessors are designed by the manufacturer to be general purpose. Their purpose is determined by the firmware.

Testing and Verification

After the product is completely designed, it undergoes a thorough testing process. We test the circuit, the code, and the whole product. This way we can insure that your product meets the highest quality standards.

Mass Production

After undergoing all the previous stages we are ready to put your product into full production. The product will be manufactured and packaged for sale through distributers around the world.
